After my 2018 Murano was totaled by a crazy driver last February, I ended up with an extra 5-button key fob from that vehicle. I recently bought another Murano and was wondering, can I reprogram the old fob to work with this one as a spare?

Heard that sometimes these fobs are tied to the car's computer. Is that the case with Muranos?

Oh no, that sucks about your '18. I'm really glad you're alright though. Sadly, you can't reprogram the old fob yourself. You're gonna need either a dealer or locksmith to do it, and they'll charge you no doubt. Might be worth asking around to see who does it cheaper.

Yes it is, after pairing, the fob is tied with that specific vehicle. With that said, the dealer has the tools and software to reseat the fob, basically wipe it clean and pair it with the new car.

@arsenalfan like i said, the dealer is your best bet, or if you manage to find a workshop that specializes in Nissan and has the tools needed for this job.
